The annual "Long Beans" poetry competition is announced

The "Long Beans" annual poetry competition for children and teenagers is announced.

The association "Ascendum" and the Latvian Council for Children and Youth Literature (LBJLP) announce a poetry competition in which children and adolescents from 5 to 15 years of age from all over Latvia are invited to participate. The best works will be published in the poetry yearbook for children "Long Bean 2021", which will be published in September, during the Poetry Days.

"There is no special topic for the competition. Watch, think and express yourself and the world around you. Send poems that have come from a free mind and for your own pleasure! Put your feelings, reflections on the time we live in, your longing for school friends with whom you can't be with at the moment, relationships with people, including worries and anger, hopes and fun! Play with the language! , "the organizers of the competition write.

Poems must be sent electronically by May 20 to the e-mail address garapupa2021@gmail.com with the reference "Long Bean Contest". The e-mail must include the author's name, school and class, as well as contact information: e-mail address and telephone number. The organizers hope for the support of both parents and teachers and librarians.

Also this year, the poet Inese Zandere, the compiler of "Long Beans", invites well-known cultural and media personalities to help her, who will give the poems a special sympathy mark - "Outstanding Bean".
