Zenta Mauriņa memorial room

In 1989, enthusiasts and researchers from Lejasciems had an idea to preserve the memory of Zenta Mauriņa. Under the leadership of teacher Jānis Kubulnieks and the head of the museum Inta Balode, a memorial room for the county writer Zenta Mauriņa was set up in the Lejasciems school in the early 1990s.

The memorial room in Lejasciems, Rīgas Street 18, contains various testimonies about the life and literary activity of Zenta Mauriņa in Latvia and emigration. Photos, books, dedications, voice recordings, literary desk - the desk to the memorial room have left both from Riga and further afield in Australia, Germany, USA. The small room has witnessed emotional meetings for many tourists from Germany, Austria, Australia and various parts of Latvia.
