Already in the 1950s, Staros had a lively cultural life, with both his own actors and dancers. Those who wanted to sing sang in the Gulbene choir. A cinema was shown in the office building, now the house on Dārza Street No. 5. Balls, concerts and carnivals also took place in the same hall.

In the 1960s, Staros had his own ensemble, and a women's quartet sang to the violin and accordion. The premises in the old collective farm workshops were repaired, now the house on Dārza Street No. 8, where active cultural life lasted until 1980, when the newly built Staru Culture House (the club of the Soviet farm "Stari") opened its doors. Dance groups of different generations, vocal ensembles, choir, drama groups worked in the newly built house. The events organized in the club were popular not only with the local people, but also with the residents of the nearby parishes and districts, therefore the auditorium was always crowded.

The Staru Culture House offers traditional, entertaining and recreational activities throughout the year. Both guest artists and local collectives participate in the events.

The folklore group "Līgo" has been operating since 1984.
