Gulbītis primary school
With the decision of Gulbene County Council, from August 1, 2017, Gulbītis Secondary School will become Gulbītis Primary School.
Gulbītis six-year primary school was opened on October 1, 1928.
The school building was built in 1885 for the needs of the pub, but since 1905 it has had apartments. In 1927/28 reconstruction works were carried out for the needs of the school. As by October 1, 1928, all the premises had not yet been built, the classes were held in the house of the Singing Society. Only from November 18 could the training take place in the planned premises.
1928/29 In the school year, the school had 2 classes with 46 students and one teacher - Alfreds Vārdaunis, the school 's founder and first director. This is the teacher whose name the school is associated with - the first school principal and choir song - choral conductor of the Jaungulbene Parish Singing Association. As a tribute to the teacher from his students, the fulfillment of the idea that arose in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of A. Vārdaunas is a monument to the teacher created by the artist I. Ranka.
In 1940, a six-grade primary school with about 200 students and 4 teachers was already operating in Gulbītis. At the beginning of the war, a German headquarters was set up at the school, but the children had to study in a boarding school and in the house of a roadmaster. The Germans retreat and set fire to both school buildings. One of them manages to save, while the other burns to the ground. After the war, the training took place in several homes and had to go from class to class for up to half a kilometer. Gradually, life got better, and the "Small School" was rebuilt. class, the big school transformed into a high school.
From 1944 it operated as a seven-year school, but since 1997/98. mg as a high school.
On September 1, 1989, a monument to A. Vārdauņš was unveiled in the school yard. The monument was built in 10 years.
The school currently has 150 students, 20 teachers, successful students in various Olympics, and various extracurricular activities such as dance, music, expressive speech and drama.
The school publishes its own school newspaper.
Student self-government is active.
Currently, the school's director is Sarmīte Puriņa.
