Lizuma Secondary School
In 1937, Lizuma merged the 4th grade primary school and the sod II grade primary school, creating the Lizuma sixth grade primary school, which started operating in Lizuma Castle from October 2.
It was transformed into a high school in 1957/1958.
Lizuma Secondary School offers 4 educational programs:
· Preschool education program
· Basic education program
· General secondary education general education direction program
· General secondary education mathematics, science and technology program
The school has opened an account in the savings bank, there is an opportunity to stimulate children materially - granting scholarships for achievements in the Olympics and sports.
In extracurricular work, the highest success has been achieved in artistic activities and sports. Extracurricular activities have become more interesting and diverse, as the events are initiated by the students themselves. The 1994 Regiment was restored in 1994. As of November 1995, a group of vanadens from the Daugava Hawks Lizuma branch has been working.
Competitions for eloquent and creative works, poetry afternoons, the competition "Let's Sing", "What Do You Know?" The traditions of the Latvian people in celebrating the anniversaries have been brought to life.
The school has a cozy library where students spend their free time, see book exhibitions, read and select books. Students are fully provided with textbooks.
The school has a good sports base (gym, the stadium field was renovated in 2011) and is provided with sports equipment.
The results of students' entrance examinations in higher education institutions testify to the mastery and professionalism of teachers in their subject.
1st place was won in the exhibition "Greening Latvia" of the greenery and improvement of the school surroundings of the Republic of Latvia.
In April 1997, the school's local history museum opened.
For several years (15.12.2008 - 31.08.2011) he worked in the ESF project “Natural Sciences and Mathematics”. As a result of this activity, students and teachers work and study in new, renovated premises, using the latest technologies in the learning process. The teachers transfer the gained experience to other schools in the county, such as the school of innovative experience.
From November 2009, the school became involved in the Education Development Centre's project "Schools as satellites for development education", gaining new ideas and new partners for school development.
2011 - 2012 Pupils and teachers took part in the global education project "For Justice in Society: Educational Change".
On October 13, 2012, Lizuma Secondary School celebrated its 75th anniversary.
In the 2012/2013 academic year, the school has 138 students and 28 teachers.
Valters Galviņš, Kārlis Ķerzums, Olga Rauhvargere, Arnolda Apsītis, Olga Dāve, Pēteris Bērziņš, Vilberts Pidiks have worked here as directors.
