Lake Lisa or Pinteļi is one of the most beautiful in our area. It can be called a mountain lake with full rights. Looking from the hill near Belava to Lake Lisa, it lies picturesquely deep in the valley.
The area of Lake Lisa is 63 ha, the maximum depth is 16 meters.
It stands out from the many surrounding lakes with a range of accommodation located in the central part of the lake, about 200 m from the north shore on an underwater hill, at a depth of about 0.5 - 2 m. It was discovered on August 10, 1959, during an expedition led by archaeologist J. Apala. Lake Lisa Castle is similar in size and shape to Āraiši Castle in the Cēsis district. The remains of the buildings have remained several crowns high. On the surface and slopes of the underwater hill there are many open 10 - 30 cm thick logs, burnt trees, coal, shavings, burnt granite stones and their rubble, ranges of trees, piles and stakes. The cultural layer is very rich, as evidenced by the many finds of antiquities - fragments of dishes, animal bones, the end of a spear of an iron sleeve, a bronze pendant and a fragment of a chain, clay spindles, grains, etc. Summarizing the lake At the end of the 1st millennium and it was inhabited by ancient Latgalians.
Several stories and legends tell about the origin of the lake. One of them tells about the origin of the lake:
"In the old days, the lake had come there. It used to be that where the lake is now, there was a village where the wedding was celebrated. Exclaiming, "Liss is coming! Liss is coming! "They have begun to flee and have escaped, but the rest of the lake, bending down there, has surrounded their waves. In calm, clear time, there is now a house on the bottom of the lake.
Another saying says that in clear weather at the bottom of the lake you can see a sunken house. The ax is said to be thickened, the claw is attached to the wall.
