Pērle Anna (1894 - 1976), linguist, wrote books for Latvian Latvians

Born in 1894 in Druviena, in a family of servants.

Graduated from Druviena Parish School and in 1911 Gymnasium in Riga. Worked as a teacher, participated in the revolutionary movement.
From 1920 she moved to Soviet Russia and was a teacher at the Latvian Children's Home and School in Moscow. In the 1930s, she was an editor at the Latvian publishing house "Prometejs" and a lecturer at the Western Communist University.

She has written Latvian language textbooks for Russian Latvians, published articles and reviews on Latvian Soviet literature.

 

Repressed in 1937 and rehabilitated in 1957. After rehabilitation she lived in Karaganda.
Died in 1976 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.
