Klēbahs - Kalnietis Alvils (1876 - 1958), linguist, publicist

Born in 1876 in Galgauskas, Gaujiņi, in a blacksmith's family.

Studied at Galgauskas Parish School, Vecpiebalga Parish School, graduated from the Pskov Teachers' Seminary (1896).
Until 1934 he worked as a teacher in Russia, Galgauskas, Riga and Saldus. Punished for the 1905 revolution, sentenced and suspended from teaching. In 1944 he emigrated to Germany.

He has compiled the publication "List of Biographies and Works of 50 Latvian Writers" (1931). Studied the history of Galgauskas parish. Works published in exile: "History of Galgauskas School for Girls", "Three Years at Vecpiebalga Friendship School" (1966), "Description of Galgauskas dialect" together with V.Rūķis (1996).

In exile, he helped to become the editions of "Latvian Folk Songs", Vol. 12, K. Milenbach's "Dictionary of the Latvian Language".
Articles in periodicals about school affairs and linguistics. Awarded the Order of the Three Stars.

Died in 1958 in Germany, buried in the Mozart Cemetery in Würzburg.
