Upītis Gorijs (1899-1994), writer

Literate and agronomist Upītis Gorijs was born on July 14, 1899 in the small manor of Kordona, Litene Parish, in the Kalna House in a peasant family.
No1922. he was a farmer until the 1960s. After the war and in 1949 he changed his residence several times, working as an agronomist and gardener.

Studied at Litene Parish School, Gulbene Boys Parish School, Kalncempju Parish School, Priekuli Agricultural School, Riga People's University, Faculty of Economics and Law.

He has worked as a gardener and agronomist in Litene and Lielvārde.

He married Elza Šķipsna in 1924 and has been married for almost 50 years. Two daughters - Taiga and Selga.

Lived in Ogre since 1963.

In his youth he became fascinated with making music, playing the piano, violin and harmonicas. He has been writing plays, poems, stories and aphorisms since the 1920s.

He has met Rainis and Aspazija several times.

He has published aphorisms and depictions of his childhood in various periodicals. He has published a collection of aphorisms "Bitter Drops", a collection of aphorisms has been published in the collection "Eyes of Life".

Aliases - Dr. Cyclone, Cuckoo, Poppy Rose.

Died in Ogre on March 7, 1994, at the age of 94.
