Greble Vilma (1906 - 1991), folkloriste

Folklorist, candidate of philological sciences Greble Vilma was born on June 7, 1906 in Kapukrog, Kalncempju (now Kalniena) parish, in the family of a carpenter.

Graduated from Gulbene Primary School (1922), Riga Teachers' Institute (1928). Studied philosophy at the University of Latvia, graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Latvia (1951).

Worked as a teacher in Riga (1929 - 1934, 1940 - 1944), proofreaders (1934 - 1940), teacher in Riga 11th district. (1944 - 1956), research associate at the Institute of Folklore of the Latvian State University (1945 - 1946), Institute of Folklore of the Academy of Sciences (1946 - 1951), Institute of Ethnography and Folklore (1951 .g. - 1955). Institute of Language and Literature (1956-1970).

Studied Latvian folk songs, children's folklore, revolutionary songs. Compiled books: "Golden Tin" (Latvian folk tales, 1955, together with JAJansons), "Fighting Songs" (1957, together with E. Kokari, J. Vitolins), A. Ozola's "Articles in Folklore" (1968), "Bibliography of Folklore and Folklore of the Latvian Ambassador" (1, 3, 1971, 1975), "Latvian Children's Folklore" (1973, author of the preface and comments). Participated in the preparation and editing of the selection "Latvian Folk Songs" (l - 3, 1955 - 1957) and the scientific publication "Latvian Folk Songs" (1-5, 1979 - 1984). Author of the book "Revolutionary Song in Soviet Latvia" (in Russian in 1971). He has published about 70 articles on folklore and folklore issues. V.Vigre has written several books for schools under the pseudonym.

Died on February 25, 1991 in Riga, buried in Meža cemetery.
