From the history of the library building:
The library was founded in 1857, when Pēteris Biezais, a teacher at Galgauskas Primary School, established the Reading Society. The list of the first registered books - 102 books - has been preserved. There is a lack of information about the library's activities during World War II. After the war, the library resumed its work on October 4, 1949.
Dzidra Matīsa was the head of the library from 1962 to 2019. Currently, the head of the library is Dace Lubāne.
