From November 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019, the project “Global Goals in the Local Community” is being implemented in Gulbene Region, its task is to promote understanding of the challenges and goals of sustainable development in a global context.
3 educational institutions of the region are involved in the project - Gulbene 3.PII “Auseklītis”, Gulbene Primary School and Lizuma Secondary School, as well as Gulbene Regional Library and Ranka Youth Initiative Center “BuMs”, in cooperation with the association “Green Freedom” creating global educational methodological materials for all ages. Also, as a result of the project, in cooperation with the Education, Culture and Sports Department of Gulbene Municipality, a traveling exhibition on the goals of global sustainability has been created, as well as the Global Education Resource Center in Gulbene County Library.
The project is co-funded by the GENE Global Education Network. Its goal in Latvia is to promote civic responsibility, understanding of global processes and active participation in building a just, inclusive and sustainable society.
