By bike on the Green!

If you are a supporter of a bicycle and a green lifestyle, then this offer is just for you!

On June 27-28, we are going on a bicycle ride "By bike on the Green!". The first route of the day is dedicated to the research of the Green Railway on the route Ape - Valka. The former railway route, which runs through picturesque countryside and small towns in downtown East Estonia and northern Vidzeme, has been transformed into a hiking and cycling route. During the trip we will get to know the Latvian border town of Api, the lovely Estonian villages of Moniste and Hargla, the Tellingumag tower, etc. We will blow our feet and cook the common soup pot in the guest house “Ezernieki” in Valka.

On the second day, accompanied by a guide, we will see Valka, try a bicycle. Next we will go to the ethnographic farm "Ielīcas", where the art film "Pūt, vējiņi" was shot. The green bicycle tour will end with a visit to the biological farm "Lejas Varicēni" in Smiltene Parish, whose owners have found alternative methods of farming in the countryside and live in harmony with nature.

The total approximate length of the route by bicycle on both days together is ~ 100 km.

Departure on June 27 at 9.30 from Gulbene district library. Excursion in Ape at 11.00. If transport is required, also for transporting the bicycle to Api, please inform in advance! Bicycles will be spent by car both days.

The trip is organized by the Europe Direct Information Center, Gulbene County Library.
