A wonderful opportunity to enjoy European cinema for free!
This autumn, the European Parliament's LUX Film Days will be enjoyed online. Due to copyright restrictions, each film will be available to 500 Latvian viewers, so don't miss out and register on the Festivalscope platform. (search link for comment). The films will be shown from November 20 to 26. And if you are worried about your language skills, then the films will have subtitles in Latvian.
We are offered three LUX films:
“Toni Erdmann” (2016)
Description of the film: When Inese, the manager of a branch of a German company in Bucharest, finds out that her father has arrived without warning, she does not hide her despair. Inese's perfectly organized life works exactly like a Swiss watch until her father asks her, "Are you happy?" The woman is unable to answer this question, and it is slowly cutting her life into the air. The father, who is a nuisance to her and for whom she is ashamed, is doing everything she can to help her find the meaning of life by inventing a character - Tony Erdman.
“Sami Blood” (2016)
Movie Description: Elle Marja is a 14-year-old daughter of a Sami reindeer herder. Faced with intolerance and humiliating biological tests at a boarding school in the 1930s, she dreams of a different life. To do this, she has to become someone else and break all ties with her family and culture.
The Realm (2018)
Movie Description: How far is a man willing to go to stay in power? This political thriller is the story of the death of a successful politician and his seemingly eternal kingdom. This was the first Spanish film in the final of the LUC Film Awards.
